Application Checklist
Reduce the risk of refusals and delays by preparing the case correctly from the beginning.
Do it right from the start
The Swedish Migration Agency works with strict evidentiary and procedural requirements. Incomplete applications often lead to requests for further information and long delays.
Prepare the documentation
- Check that your passport is valid in original form and will not expire during the expected processing time.
- Translate foreign marriage certificates or birth records into Swedish or English through an authorized translator where required.
- Gather employment agreements, payslips, and employer certificates that show income or work conditions.
- Save account statements and proof of housing costs if the case may require evidence of maintenance or living conditions.
Confirm the legal requirements
- Review the current maintenance threshold in family reunification matters.
- Check that the home meets space and standard requirements for the household.
- For work permits, verify that all four mandatory insurances have been arranged correctly.
- For citizenship, assess whether your period of residence in Sweden is long and continuous enough.
Get legal review early
- Contact us for a free initial case review before you submit the application.
- If your matter may allow public counsel, raise that issue early with the authority.
- If you already have a refusal, act within the short appeal deadline.
- Let a specialist review your evidence package to reduce the risk of avoidable delays or refusals.
